Rountree Printing & Graphics, Inc. coordinated the move of a major brokerage in-plant print shop out of mid-town Manhattan. This move, involving more than one hundred employees and their equipment, was completed in two separate phases, two weekends apart. This phased approach caused minimum disruption, since only one-half of the equipment was out of service at any given time.
Rountree Printing & Graphics provided the following services:
- Designed a workflow and floor layout for the new installation.
- Provided a detail plan and schedule, using Microsoft Project, for the move and installation.
- Reviewed and corrected major problems on the Architect's and Mechanical Contractor's prints.
- Engaged and coordinated the movers/riggers, electricians and OEM equipment mechanics.
- Positioned all equipment in the new location.
- Supervised the disassembly, move and reassembly of all equipment.
- Coordinated all electrical, air and water connections.
- Assured that the new installation complied with OSHA requirements.
- Checked and approved the proper functioning of all equipment before returning it to the client for production.
The total move consisted of over fifty major pieces of equipment. This included five sheet-fed presses, two web presses, four right-angle folders, two large finishing systems, cutters and other miscellaneous equipment. In all, a total of eleven full-size moving-van loads were transported to the new location. The average downtime of the equipment was less than three working days.
